A generous donation by the Eli and Dalia Horowitz Family Fund to Israel’s Rabin Medical Center will support a three component program in Infectious Diseases including:
In the first stage of the artificial intelligence system mentioned above, a new innovative computerized system has been integrated at the Rabin Medical Center. The TREAT system has already proven its advantages through a vital experiment eight years ago at Rabin Medical Center and at premier medical institutions in Europe. The system effectively combines data of the infected patient with the probable data of the infections surrounding the patient to produce an educated recommendation of the suggested antibiotic treatment.
This system is vital for proper treatment of infection and is a response to the report of Israel‘s state comptroller from May 2013 warning that 4,000-6,000 people die in Israel each year from severe infections contaminated in hospitals. The same report also said that 1,000-4,500 of these deaths could have been prevented.
Rabin Medical Center continues to strengthen its ties with the Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) in Washington, DC, one of America's leading medical institutions.
