AFRMC Annual Celebration of New York Real Estate and Finance

The American Friends of Rabin Medical Center (AFRMC) and its sponsors Jones Lang LaSalle and Silverstein Properties hosted the Annual Celebration of New York Real Estate and Finance at 7 World Trade Center on April 18, 2013.

The exclusive event welcomed two hundred and fifty corporate attendees from the real estate and finance world for an evening of networking and the celebration of the revitalization of downtown Manhattan. Held on the tenth floor of 7 World Trade Center, attendees are treated to close-up views of One World Trade Center, the rising Fulton Transit Center and the reflecting pools at the 9/11 memorial. Prior to the event, select guests were treated to an exclusive guided tour of the 9/11 memorial.

A few days prior to the event an unexpected bombing disrupted the Boston Marathon. In his remarks Peter Riguardi commented, "When I watched the Boston marathon bombing I realized how New York City taught America and the world how to react to large scale emergencies. There is no better testimony to this then what is outside our window at Ground Zero." AFRMC Executive Director, Joshua Plaut told the attendees, "When terror struck Boston it almost struck home. What happens in the first minutes and hours and days in the terms of the first responders is a life changing experience for many people wounded - This is what this evening is for in Israel. We are building the most sophisticated new emergency and trauma center at Israel's Rabin Medical Center. prepared for any terrorist attack or other emergencies."

AFMRC Board Chairman and event host Peter Riguardi, New York Region President of Jones Lang LaSalle presented the "Most Innovative Real Estate and Finance Deal of the Year Award for 2013". Awards were given to Cushman & Wakefield's brokerage professionals Tara Stacom, Executive Vice Chairman and Michael Rotchford, Executive Vice President and Head of Investment Banking. The awardees brokered the lease to Condé Nast for approximately 1.2 million square feet at One World Trade Center.

The "Most Innovative Real Estate and Finance Deal of the Year Award" is presented each year to a project whose team exhibits excellence and achievement in a sale or rental. Using exemplary skill, creativity, and experience, the awardees must demonstrate an outstanding success in the NY Real estate and finance community.

In receiving her award Tara Stacom stated "Downtown is a truly vibrant community. The year 2012 is definitely the story of midtown south and 2013 is definitely going to be the story of downtown Manhattan." Michael Rotchford, honored by receiving this award, "The Condé Nast leasing could have never been accomplished without the foresight and perseverance of the Port Authority. Working with the Port Authority was one of the most exciting and fulfilling parts of my career."

The event included a silent and live auction, musical entertainment, and dinner.
