American Friends of Rabin Medical Center (AFRMC) hosted our Fourteenth Annual Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street, NYC honoring Norman Sturner CEO & President of Murray Hill Properties with a sold out crowd of 620 guests. Renowned host Charlie Rose returned for his fifth year as Master of Ceremonies and interviewed Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel. The Annual Gala was an exciting evening raising over one million dollars and donations of over 40 medical Equipment and fellowships to benefit a new Emergency and Trauma Center at Israel’s Rabin Medical Center and the Abraham & Yvonne Cohen Cardiac & Medical Research fund. 

The Exemplary Benefactor Award was presented to Osamu Nagayama, Chairman and CEO of Chugai Pharmaceutical Co. and accepted on his behalf by Henry Nordhoff, Chairman of Chugai Pharmaceuticals USA.

The evening also featured a special tribute presented by Professor Elie Wiesel and Alfred Mann of MannKind Corporation to our beloved Chairman and former Director of TEVA Pharmaceuticals Abraham “Barry” z”l Cohen and his wife Yvonne.

Guests enjoyed a three part lively jazz performance by the critically acclaimed Preservation Hall Jazz Band of New Orleans. The release tour for the band’s new album That’s It! has taken them across mainland United States all the way to recent performances at The  Grammy’s, NPR, and TV appearances including Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and FX’s American Horror Story Coven.

American Friends of Rabin Medical Center Annual Gala proceeds benefited the future 54,000 square foot Emergency and Trauma Center at Rabin Medical Center, opening in March 2014 at Israel’s Rabin Medical Center in addition to the Abraham and Yvonne Cohen Cardiac and Medical Research Fund. Guests also supported the Hospital with our Annual SAVE A LIFE Medical Equipment Appeal, auctioning off medical equipment and Rabin Medical Exchange fellowships in support of the Rabin Medical Center.
