Daniella Gilboa with Rabin Medical Center medical staff before her surgery
Daniella Gilboa, one of the released hostages treated at Rabin Medical Center’s Returning Hostages Ward this past January, returned to the hospital to have a bullet removed from her ankle. The bullet, which was lodged in her ankle since October 7 when Hamas terrorists shot and then captured her, has been a constant reminder of her days in captivity.
Daniella wrote a beautiful and heartfelt post on her social media page, expressing how deeply impactful she was from this event:
“Today is one of the happiest days of my life. If you look at the date the way Americans look (07/10), it reverses and symbolizes for me the worst day of my life, October 7 (10/07). How ironic that we accidentally scheduled the surgery not only on this date, but more incredibly, for 6:30 in the morning (the same time as the attack on October 7).
I admit that my decision to wait was also the fear of losing the only physical memory I have that reminds me how lucky I am that it is not worse. This bullet has been a daily reminder of how much I thank God for watching over me.”
Danielle closed her post with gratitude for Rabin Medical Center:
“Many thanks to the medical staff (at Rabin Medical Center)! For the professionalism, and the great help you render with love. So appreciative! And the fact that their medical staff goes out several times a day, holding the photographs of the 50 kidnapped people still in Gaza, is so amazing and moved me that I had to tell them that it is a blessing, and that they will continue, until everyone is home.
Everyone needs to come full circle.”
