A special delegation of senior cardiologists from China recently visited the Rabin Medical Center where they were hosted by the Department of Cardiology, directed by Prof. Alexander Battler.
The guests were given an overview of the hospital by Dr. Efrat Harel, Assistant Director at Rabin Medical Center which was followed by several presentations relating to the activities of the Department of Cardiology. These included a presentation by Prof. Buttler, Prof. Ran. Kornowski, head of the Interventional Cardiology Institute and Dr. Yaron Shapira, head of the Echocardiography Unit and Valvular Clinic. The delegation then visited the Interventional Cardiology Institute where they toured the technologies and innovative medical services offered at the Institute. The Chinese cardiologists now hope to find areas for future collaboration and cooperation with Rabin Medical Center.
For the estimated 250 million people worldwide who suffer from rare diseases, there is little hope for diagnosis or treatment. Because each individual disease impacts so few people, hardly any funding is allocated to research, leaving many without medical options.
