Join Larry King and Middle East Presidential Envoy Ambassador Dennis Ross to commemorate Yitzhak Rabin's life and legacy.
The dinner will take place at The Pierre Hotel, Sunday October 30 at 6:00 pm. Larry King will serve as our Master of Ceremonies. We are honored to host as keynote speaker Ambassador Dennis Ross, presidential envoy and distinguished Middle East diplomat, a senior fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, and author of The Missing Peace: The Inside Story of the Fight for Middle East Peace (Farrar Straus Giroux, 2004). Ross will pay tribute in his remarks to Yitzhak Rabin's life and legacy on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Rabin's assassination. Ross will also analyze current Middle East crises in Iraq and Iran and discuss the Gaza disengagement. The Honorable Arnold Burns of The QuanStar Group, LLC will be our dinner chairman. The widely-acclaimed Jazz Museum of Harlem All-Stars Band will provide entertainment.
At this year's dinner, American Friends of Rabin Medical Center honor Patricia and Phillip Frost, M.D. Dr. Frost is a noted philanthropist and the founder, chairman and CEO of IVAX Corporation, an international company that discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets branded and generic pharmaceuticals and veterinary products. IVAX was recently acquired by Teva Pharmaceuticals of Israel, the largest generic drug company in the world. Dr. Frost will assume the position of Vice-Chair of Teva Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Frost also serves as Co-Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors American Stock Exchange.
This year's gala fundraising features Rabin Medical Center's unique accomplishments in utilizing advanced medical technologies to treat patients. Contributors to this year's dinner will be gratified to know that their gifts will be used directly to heal and improve the quality of patients' lives. A group of researchers from Tel Aviv University has discovered how malignant tumors from melanoma, the deadly skin cancer, work. The group is led by a young lecturer and researcher, Dr. Carmit Levy.
AFRMC held its third Annual Women's Luncheon on April 23, 2009 at the United Nations. This prestigious charity event benefited the new $2.7 million comprehensive Breast Care Center at Rabin Medical Center, for all of Israel's women.
